740 PRESTRESSED CONCRETE LINTELS: Naylor Prestressed Lintels.
Naylor Lintels are a division of Naylor Industries PLC. They also produce steel L-Strip lintels which can be specified in clause 750.

Naylor prestressed lintels design complies with BS 8110: Part 1: 1997: section 4 and are manufactured in accordance with BS 5977: Part 2: 1983. The lintels are designed to act as independent units and are not dependent on composite action with the wall above to achieve their full loadbearing potential. Consult with Naylor Lintels for details.

Lintels are usually supplied with the following allowances for bearing at each end:
100mm for openings up to & including 1000mm
150mm for openings up to & including 3000mm
200mm for openings over 3000mm.

Colour-Spec Lintel Range
A range of colour washed, high performance units with the structural performance of the Hi-Spec Lintel Range. The wash acts as a stain, penetrating the concrete surface and equalising colour variations. It gives a long life finish, reduces surface dusting and increases light reflectivity.

Examples of specials produced include – large and unusual shaped section, lintels with inserts cast-in and units with chamfers or notches. Galvanised Steel L Lintels
L-Strip Galvanised Steel Lintels are manufactured from steel strip complying with BS EN 10025 with the minimum yield stress of 275 N/mm² and galvanised to BS 298922 (code LG).

All of the lintels incorporate a 30mm return at the top, facing inwards.

The lintels are designed to be used independently in either traditional or timber framed construction. Lintels with a wider flange designed for stonework outer leaf are available. Special sections are available on request.

Insulation can be factory applied if required: a technical sheet regarding thermal bridging is available on request.
The lintels should be bedded on a thin mortar bed placed in the reveals of the external leaf.

For spans in excess of 1200mm, temporary support should be provided until the first few courses of masonry have matured: window and door frames are normally sufficient for this particular purpose.
